Enzymes in Skincare: What are they and how do I use them?
Share
Enzymes in skincare products are natures exfoliating superheroes.
Facial scrubs are not the only ways to exfoliate. Enzymes are a natural alternative to exfoliating. They work by creating a chemical reaction on the skin to dissolve dry, hardened skin cells and encourage the growth of new, healthy cells to take their place.
Essentially, enzymes enhance skin cell turn over which leave the skin appearing smooth, more radiant and skin tone more even.
Where Do Enzymes Come From?
Enzymes are naturally derived from the following fruits:
Bromelain - Found in pineapple juice as well as the pineapple stem
Actinidin - Exists in kiwi, pineapple, mange, banana, and papaya
Papain - Found in papaya
Which Skin Types Benefit Most From Enzymes?
Introducing enzymes into your skincare routine is a great idea for those who suffer with sensitive skin as they offer a more gentle exfoliation than that of a scrub. They are perfect for those who suffer from inflammation, pigmentation and acne-prone skin. Rosecea is a complex skin concern and in some cases abrasion-free exfoliation is key to effective exfoliation and management of this skin condition.
